Become a Candidate

Available Seats (Fall 2020):

  • Students with Disabilities Representative At-Large
    • One Position 
    • Requires 75 Petition Signatures
  • Freshman Representative
    • Four Positions
    • Requires 75 Petition Signatures
  • Transfer Representative
    • One Position
    • Requires 25 Petition Signatures
  • Minority Students Liaison At-Large
    • One Position (vacant position not petitioned for in the Spring 2020 election)
    • Requires 75 Petition Signatures
  • Undergraduate Representative to the University Assembly
    • One Position (vacant position not petitioned for in the Spring 2020 election)
    • Requires 150 Petition Signatures

Application Process:

You must do these 6 things prior to becoming a candidate:

  1. Review the details for the open position. 
  2. Review the Election Rules to ensure your eligibility.
  3. Complete the online registration form.
    1. Include a 1250 character Candidate Statement
    2. Attach a photo (or have one taken of you)
  4. Review petition requirements for each position listed above and gather petition signatures (petition form instructions)
  5. Attend the mandatory campaign meeting on Thursday, September 17th at 6:30pm
  6. ​ Apply for at least one Student Assembly Committee through the online committee form
Additionally, while optional yet strongly encouraged, candidates may submit a short 60-90 second video detailing their platform and provide information about themselves.
