- Approval of the November 14th Meeting Minutes
- N. Brennan moved to approve the minutes. The motion passed by unanimous consent.

- N. Brennan acknowledged the Day of Dialogue: Communication and Self- Support in a Polarized World and thanked Y. Wu for organizing the event.
- Operations and Staffing
- Z. Lynch stated that he is trying to fill remaining external committee vacancies, plus the GPSA’s Finance Chair, an internal one.

- A. Koyyada announced funding information for those interested in starting a new club.
- Student Advocacy
- S. Hampi stated that the committee will continue to discuss the EAP.

- A. LaGressa announced updates to Gala planning and that the theme would be old Hollywood.
- Faculty Teaching, Advising, and Mentorship Award
- J. Chobirko stated that award nominations are out.

- Remarks from Cornell University Interim President Michael I. Kotlikoff, accompanied by Dean of the Graduate School Kathryn J. Boor.
- The Interim President gave remarks on Cornell’s graduate and professional schools and students and the state of the University before fielding questions from members on infrastructure, freedom of expression, graduate student life, and more.
- Remarks from Cornell University Interim President Michael I. Kotlikoff, accompanied by Dean of the Graduate School Kathryn J. Boor.
- Legislation
- Resolution 4: Recommendations Regarding the CCEA Expressive Activity Policy Draft (Sponsors: N. Brennan, C. Chappel, M. El-Walid, I. Gatimi, M. Pacheco, S. Hampi)
- The sponsors presented on Resolution 4, outlining the reasons for their disapproval of the draft Expressive Activity Policy and encouraging members to read the legislation’s line-by-line suggestions.
- Members asked questions of the sponsors.
- The GPSA moved on to discussion of Resolution 4. Members focused on concerns about rules on masking, the University’s authority, and policies on “special settings” and audio and visual disruptions.
- Resolution 4 passed by a vote of 16-1-2.

- A. Koyyada was re-elected as GPSA Finance Commission Chair by unanimous consent.
- Big Red Barn Planning Committee
- Z. Lynch was elected to be one of two GPSA representatives to the Big Red Barn Planning Committee.

- None.
- Open Forum
- M. Jones requested that the GPSA create more social channels for members (i.e., a WhatsApp or Slack group). N. Brennan responded that there is a new GPSA Slack and asked members to join.

| GPSA R4 (2024-2025): GPSA R4: Recommendations Regarding the CCEA Expressive Activity Policy Draft | Abstract: This resolution formalizes the GPSA’s response to the CCEA regarding the Expressive Activity Policy draft released to the Cornell Community on October 30th, 2024. Sponsored by: Nicholas J. Brennan, Executive Vice President, Camron Luke Chappel, Social Sciences Representative, Mohamed Z El-Walid, Irene Gatimi, Master of Public Administration Representative, Marguerite Pacheco, Srinica Hampi, Student Advocacy Committee Chair, Reviewed by Student Advocacy Committee 11/26/2024 –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Whereas: The Cornell Committee on Expressive Activity [CCEA] was charged by former University President Martha Pollack with recommending changes to the University’s existing policies governing expressive activity in 2023. Whereas: On October 30th, 2024, the CCEA reported to the Cornell community with a draft policy requesting feedback by December 9th, 2024 in order to finalize its recommendations in line with the University’s policy review process. Whereas: The GPSA Student Advocacy Committee has held three meetings on the topic of the Expressive Activity Policy draft since the Policy’s release to formalize the GPSA’s response to the draft policy on behalf of the graduate student community. Whereas: members from the Cornell Graduate Student Union (CGSU) have been included and involved in contributing to the GPSA’s formalized response to the expressive activity policy draft. Be it therefore resolved: The Statement on the Draft Expressive Activity Policy be adopted by the Graduate and Professional Student Assembly. Be it therefore resolved: The GPSA recommends an expansion of graduate and undergraduate student representation on the CCEA beyond 5 of 19 committee seats. Be it finally resolved: The Graduate and Professional Student assembly disapproves the Expressive Activity Policy October 30th, 2024 draft.
