    Dear David,

Thank you for submitting GPSA Resolution 7: Urging for Graduate Teaching Assistants to Have the Right to Decide their Instruction Modality for Spring 2021. Based on feedback the university received from the GPSA, graduate assistants, and faculty, the academic deans have adopted a policy of letting graduate TAs select their teaching modality for the spring 2021 term.  This was communicated to students in the December 21, 2020 “Graduate Announcements” newsletter. The message further explained that students would no longer need to seek accommodations from the office of Student Disability Services if they wished to perform TA duties remotely due to a health concern.  It provided students with steps for seeking redress if they felt pressure to TA in-person.

Thank you for your advocacy on this important topic.  I am glad that TAs who were uncomfortable teaching in person had options to shift to remote teaching.

    Sincerely,

    Martha E. Pollack
