Summary / Notes:
Dear Zora,
Thank you for conveying Resolution 38: Increasing Outreach Requirements and for the Assembly’s continued commitment to strengthening outreach and engagement with students. I accept this resolution and share the Assembly’s goal of ensuring that all students feel well represented by their elected leaders.
I am grateful for the SA’s desire to see more of its members engage meaningfully with constituents. Such engagement is central to effective shared governance and to building trust with the student body.
At the same time, I offer a note of caution regarding the proposed increase in outreach requirements. If most of the members are currently finding it challenging to meet the existing requirement of at least one forum per year, a shift to a monthly requirement represents a significant and potentially unattainable change and could risk emphasizing quantity over impact.
I encourage the Assembly to continue exploring outreach strategies that are both sustainable and meaningful, with an emphasis on the quality and effectiveness of engagement rather than a fixed monthly metric.
Sincerely,
Michael Kotlikoff
