Type of Action: Recommendation
Originally Presented: 03/12/2026
Current Status: Adopted by the Assembly, Unanimous Consent, 03/26/2026
Whereas, preliminary examinations may be administered at any time for classes, determined by the staff and administration of the course,
Whereas, in the case of direct overlap of examination times, students may reschedule one of the exams,
Whereas, in the case of final examinations, when three or more final exams are scheduled to be administered within a 24-hour period, at least one may be rescheduled,
Whereas, an excessive number of exams creates unnecessary mental stress leaving students feeling overwhelmed and anxious,
Be it therefore resolved, in the case that a student has 3 or more preliminary exams scheduled to be administered within a 24-hour period, they may reschedule one of the exams to an alternative date,
Be it further resolved, that professors shall not reject a request to reschedule a preliminary examination on the basis of this rule,
Be it finally resolved, such a change shall be implemented by all colleges by the start of the 2026-2027 academic year.
