Whereas, the Student Assembly adopted Resolution 50: Tri-Semesterly Committee Chair and Liaison Reports by unanimous consent on March 12, 2026,
Whereas, Resolution 50 mandates “all Committee Chairs and Liaisons to report on their progress at three designated dates each semester to ensure committees maintain momentum”,
Whereas, in the amendment to the Student Assembly Bylaws prescribed by Resolution 50, it creates Subsection D within Section 1: Creation and Maintenance of Committees,
Whereas, Clause 2 of Subsection D outlines the content and delivery of the Tri-Semesterly Committee Chair and Liaison Reports,
Whereas, in furthering the interests of transparency and accountability, the Student Assembly ought to make these reports available to the student body,
Be it therefore resolved, that Article VI, Section 1, Subsection D of the Student Assembly Bylaws be amended to reflect the following language (with subsequent subsections renumbered accordingly):
- These progress reports are to be delivered in a transferable document, such as a written-out report, to the Vice President for Communications, who will make the progress report publicly available in a manner of their discretion.
Be it therefore resolved, the mechanism for transparency and accountability prescribed by Resolution 50 is enhanced by the above amendment in making committee chairs and liaisons answerable to not only the Student Assembly but the wider student body, as well,
Be it finally resolved, that direct delivery of the Tri-Semesterly Committee Chair and Liaison Reports to the student body is mandated by the Student Assembly Bylaws.
Respectfully Submitted,
