    Good evening President Pollack!

I would like to bring to your attention the following resolutions passed at last week’s meeting of the University Assembly:

UA R2: Support for Native American and Indigenous Students at Cornell’s Demands. This was also conveyed to you previously by the Student Assembly as SA Resolution 7  The University Assembly voted to support the demands of Native American and Indigenous Students at Cornell (NAISAC). This evening’s meeting included the first reading of the land acknowledgement.

UA R4: Acknowledging the Passing of Transgender Day of Remembrance, Upholding the University Assembly’s Commitment to Representing Trans and Genderqueer Members of the Campus Community, and Establishing the LGBTQIA+ Facilitator to the University Assembly. This resolution expresses the UA’s recognition of the 21st Transgender Day of Remembrance which took place on Friday, November 20, 2020. The resolution also encourages future UA’s to acknowledge the names of all the transgender and gender queer people who died from violence in the US that year. Further, the resolution affirm’s our support for protecting the rights and safety of LGBTQIA+ Cornellians and establishes a Facilitator to the UA, to be elected from the voting membership of to serve as the primary point of contact between LGBTQIA+ community groups and the UA. I read the names of the aforementioned individuals at the December 1 meeting. The Facilitator position still needs to be officially created and recognized in our bylaws and filled.

UA R5: In Recognition and Appreciation of Cornell University Students. This was also conveyed to you by the Employee Assembly previously as EA Resolution 4  This resolution is a formal recognition of the response of Cornell University students to the COVID-19 pandemic and to thank them for their efforts to protect Cornell’s Ithaca community.

Please stay tuned for an email tomorrow with information regarding resolutions passed at this evening’s meeting of the UA!

    Best wishes,
    Logan
