Thank you for conveying to me Resolution 39: Establishing an Ad-Hoc Committee for Investigating Course Absence Policy Reform. I acknowledge this resolution, and by copy of this email am sharing it with Dean of Faculty Charlie Van Loan for his information.  It is my understanding that he is in the process of updating the faculty handbook to strengthen the expectation that students are properly excused for religious holidays and varsity athletic competitions so I suggest you meet with him before you begin the work described in your resolution.
