SA R22 (2019-2020): Acknowledged by the President

Dear Joe, Thank you for conveying to me Student Assembly Resolution 22: Establishing an Equitable Event Registry System for Cooperative Houses. In response to this resolution, I am asking the Housing & Residential Life team to work with officers from our eight cooperative residences for a thorough review of event policies in those houses, as well as City of Ithaca Fire Code, assembly inspections, liability insurance requirements, and what possibilities, if any, might exist for creating a system for registering and hosting events in those buildings.

Dear Monet:   I am pleased to have an opportunity to respond to your email of February 12 enclosing GPSA Resolutions 7, 8 and 9.  The GPSA has raised a number of weighty and complex issues.  I will take each in turn.   Resolution 7: A Resolution to Amend the Bylaws Concerning GPSA External Committee Appointments reflects the careful and thoughtful administrative leadership demonstrated by the GPSA this year.  I am supportive of the principles addressed in this resolution.  Before I approve it, however, I am asking GPSA to correct two minor issues.  First,

Dear Adam,

Thank you for sending EA Resolution 2: Consolidation of Committees to Vice President Opperman and me. I commend the EA for the careful and thoughtful way in which the members arrived at the decision to permanently consolidate standing committees. I’m pleased that the one-year trial of the modified committee structure gave you an opportunity to assess the effectiveness of the change. I am glad to learn that this change was effective, and endorse this resolution.

Sincerely,

Martha Pollack

UA R3 (2018-2019): Acknowledged by the President

Dear Matthew,

Thank you for submitting U.A. Resolution #3, “Examining the Need to Augment the Cornell Childcare Facility,” for my review and response. I appreciate the University Assembly’s advocacy for Cornell’s students, faculty, and staff with children.

Childcare is indeed a critical issue for our community. The Division of Human Resources, specifically the Work/Life office, is responsible for assessing community needs and implementing care options and resources.
