EA R4 (2020-2021): Acknowledged by the President
Dear Hei Hei,
Thank you for conveying EA R4: In Recognition and Appreciation of Cornell University Students. I share your appreciation for the efforts of our students to adhere to the safety measures that the university put in place this fall. Thanks to their careful practices, we were able to conduct in-person classes safely as planned.
I also want to thank the Employee Assembly for your ongoing efforts to inform and support our staff community.
GPSA R2 (2020-2021): Acknowledged by the President
Dear David,
Thank you for sending me a copy of GPSA Resolution 2: Condemning the Proposed DHS Ruling Requiring a Fixed Period of Stay for International Students.
I am proud of the comment letter submitted by Cornell voicing strong opposition to the proposed rule change. I sincerely hope that the Department takes our comments to heart – along with the hundreds of thousands of others that were written in opposition – and withdraws the proposal before it becomes effective.
UA R1 (2020-2021): Acknowledged by the President
Dear Logan,
Thank you for submitting UA Resolution #1: “Bylaw Changes to the Appointment of Standing Committee Chairs and Members” for my consideration.
SA R50 (2019-2020): Acknowledged by the President
Dear Cat,
As you know, Joe conveyed to me Resolution 50: Establishment of the Cornell University Police Department Oversight Committee. Section 6431 of Article 129-A of New York State Education Law mandates that we have an advisory committee on campus security, which we accomplish with Cornell’s Public Safety Advisory Committee (PSAC).
SA R30 (2019-2020): Acknowledged by the President
Dear Cat,
As you know, Joe conveyed to me Student Assembly Resolution 30: Urging Cornell University to Contribute Financial Support for the Summer 2020 Student Contribution Pilot Program. While the Student Contribution Pilot Program was included in a planned package of financial aid reforms that were scheduled for presentation and review by the Board of Trustees, the pandemic emergency forced the university to shift focus toward other, more urgent financial aid priorities.
SA R47 (2019-2020): Acknowledged by the President
Dear Cat,
As you know, Joe Anderson conveyed to me Resolution 47: Guaranteeing Centralized Housing for All Transfer Students. I appreciate the Student Assembly’s desire to address the needs of Cornell’s transfer student community. It is the hope and intent of Student and Campus Life administration to fulfill all housing applications submitted by transfer students once the North Campus Residential Expansion is complete.
SA R48 (2019-2020): Acknowledged by the President
Dear Cat,
My thanks to Joe Anderson for conveying to me Student Assembly Resolution 48: Calling for the Extension of Cornell Health Services to Students Forcibly Withdrawn from the University for Non-Disciplinary Matters. I appreciate the Student Assembly’s concern for these students but do want to note that state laws may limit our ability to provide services to people who are no longer considered students.
EA R3 (2020-2021): Acknowledged by the President
Dear Hei Hei,
Thank you for submitting EA Resolution 3: In Recognition and Appreciation of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg.
I join you in celebrating her over 60 years of service to the public good, to fairness, and equity.
SA R34 (2019-2020): Acknowledged by the President
Dear Cat,
I appreciate Joe’s conveying to me Student Assembly Resolution 34: In Determining University Weather-Related Operating Status: Requesting Equitable Student Representation.
GPSA R5 (2019-2020): Acknowledged by the President
Dear Andy,
Thank you for conveying to me Resolution 5: Support of the Development and Implementation of a Cornell Campus Circulator System. Although I acknowledge the very real concerns of the GPSA around campus accessibility, parking, and sustainable transportation, I am unable to accept the resolution as written. I can, however, commit to continuing efforts to address many of the concerns you raise.
As you are aware, the COVID-19 crisis has resulted in budget issues across the campus.
