Voting will begin on October 1, 2024.

Student-elected trustees alternate between graduate and professional and undergraduate students annually. The graduate and professional student-elected trustee is chosen in the fall of even-numbered years for a two-year term.

To be eligible, prospective candidates must:

  • Candidates must be enrolled full-time in one of the campus-based Graduate or Professional Schools.
  • Candidates must not be on disciplinary probation or suspension.
  • Candidates must be, and expect to remain, registered in good-standing in their current college or school (and in residence at the Ithaca, Geneva, or Cornell Tech campuses) through the end of the two-year term.

Cornell is one of relatively few institutions in the nation to allow students to directly elect representatives to its highest governing body. In alternating years with the undergraduate students, a graduate or professional student will be elected by fellow students to serve as a full voting member on the Board of Trustees.
