Subject: [oa-actions-l] Student Assembly Resolutions 59 and 60

Dear President Skorton,

I would like to convey Resolution 59: SA Bylaw Changes (attached in its final form) and Resolution 60: S.A. Standing Rule Changes to you. These resolutions were sponsored by Emma Johnston, our Executive Vice President-elect, Juliana Batista, our President-elect, and Jordan Berger, our Parliamentarian.

SA R59 (2014-2015): Accepted by the President

Dear Sarah,

Thank you for sharing Resolution 59: SA Bylaw Changes. While I have no issues with the establishment of these committees, I hope that they plan to operate in conjunction with the campus departments with which they correspond. I approve this resolution.

I encourage the Academic Affairs Committee to connect with the Provost as well as the Dean of the Faculty and Dean of Students. I also would encourage the City and Local Affairs Committee to connect with the Office of Community Relations.

SA R65 (2014-2015): Returned by the President

Dear Sarah,

Thank you for sharing Resolution 65, Developing and Funding a Student Run Grocery Store. I am impressed with the commitment of the Student Assembly to help address a need that appears quite real for some subset of the Cornell student body. That said, I am sending the proposal back for reconsideration until all the issues you outlined in the resolution are addressed to the satisfaction of everyone outlined in the resolution.

SA R57 (2014-2015): Acknowledged by the President

Dear Sarah,

Thank you for sharing Resolution 57: iPhone Chargers in Libraries. I appreciate the Student Assembly’s research on the matter, and understand that the libraries already are circulating phone chargers. I hope the SA and libraries’ staff members continue to collaborate on these recommendations.

Regards,

David Skorton

SA R71 (2014-2015): Conveyed to the President

Dear President Skorton,

I would like to convey Resolution 71: 2015 Performance Tier SAFC Appeals to you. This resolution was sponsored by Marissa Guiang and Spencer Nord, Co-Chairs of the SAFC, and Matthew Stefanko, VP for Finance of the SA.

The Student Assembly voted to uphold the appeals decisions brought from the Appropriations Committee.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

Best,
Sarah
