    Whereas, Cornell Career Services is Cornell's Career Development Network, providing a wide array of professional development services to Cornell students;

    Whereas, Cornell Career Services is a division of the Department of Student and Campus Life;

    Whereas, the Cornell Student Assembly Charter, Article III, Section 1, lines 19-20 states:

    “The Assembly will have legislative authority over the policies of the Department of Campus Life and the Office of the Dean of Students;”

    Whereas, Cornell Career Services’ “mission is to create a culture centered on care, connection, and shared responsibility;”

    Whereas, Cornell Career Services states “We embrace diversity in all its forms, including race, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, age, veteran status, disability status, nationality, language, socioeconomic background, working and thinking styles, religious background, culture, and other lived experiences;”

    Whereas, Cornell Career Services promises “We expect our partners to recognize the powerful impact that diversity, inclusion, and belonging bring to their organizations and the workforce;”

    Whereas, Cornell Career Services has scheduled an event entitled “Law Enforcement Recruitment Webinar - Sept 30th - U.S. Customs and Border Protection;”

    Whereas, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection have illegally detained and deported thousands of undocumented people without proper legal standing, engaged in racial and ethnic profiling, and conducted workplace raids that conflict with Cornell’s stated values;

    Whereas, international students make up 26% of Cornell’s students;

    Whereas, the current federal administration has signaled a willingness to use ICE and other avenues to attack the status of international students;

    Whereas, ICE and U.S. Customs and Border Protection have espoused insensitive, racist, and broadly uninclusive rhetoric that conflicts with Cornell’s stated values, including that of “any person, any study,”

    Be it therefore resolved, Cornell Career Services shall cease any existing collaboration with ICE and/or Customs and Border Protection and shall not collaborate with, advertise events for, or engage in any activity promoting the efforts of ICE or Customs and Border Protection;

    Be it further resolved, the September 30th Career Services event with Customs and Border Protection shall be canceled;

    Be it further resolved, no further events with Customs and Border Protection shall be scheduled or allowed to go forward in the 2025-2026 academic year;

    Be it finally resolved, Cornell Career Services shall not advertise any ICE or Customs and Border Protection events, recruitment related or otherwise.
