I am in receipt of SA Resolution #48, “Ban the Box.” SA Resolution #48 recommends removing the box that asks about felony convictions from the job applications and further recommends that the university inquire about criminal histories during a background check after a conditional offer of employment is extended.

Dear Richard, Thank you for sharing GPSA Resolution 4: Endorsement of the Best Practices for Faculty Advisers Document. I commend the GPSA for taking this initiative and thinking critically about the nature of mentoring relationships between advisers and graduate students. The Best Practices document has already been widely distributed through the Dean of Faculty’s office and is stimulating useful conversations across campus.
