SA R39 (2015-2016): Acknowledged by the President

Dear Juliana,

Thank you for sharing with me Resolution 39: Committing to Carbon Neutrality by 2035.

I appreciate the Cornell community’s concern and passion for the 2035 carbon neutrality goal. This is an important university priority, and one for which we must identify a financially feasible path forward. Recently, I met with students and staff to share that I have charged the Senior Leaders Climate Action Group (SLCAG) with developing by September 1, 2016, a menu of options and related costs that will enable Cornell to achieve carbon neutrality by this date.

UA R5 (2015-2016): Acknowledged by the President

Dear Matthew,

On behalf of President Garrett, thank you for conveying the University Assembly’s Resolution 5, “Promoting Community Feedback on the Proposed College of Business.” We value the UA’s perspective on this topic of substantial consequence to the Dyson School, Johnson School and School of Hotel Administration communities, and to Cornell.

SA R26 (2015-2016): Acknowledged by the President

Dear Juliana,

Thank you for sharing Student Assembly Resolution 26: Promoting Justice and Friendship in the Housing Lottery.

I appreciate your efforts and support your intentions, and can assure you that the Division of Student and Campus Life is committed to implementing a plan that is as practical and fair to the largest group of students as possible, as soon as it is realistic to do so.

SA R24 (2015-2016): Acknowledged by the President

Dear Juliana,

Thank you for sharing Resolution 24: Cost Barriers to Study Abroad.

I appreciate the Student Assembly’s efforts to make studying abroad more accessible to students, and am supportive of reducing all barriers possible to allow for more students to participate in this experience. However, due to the cost limitations of the program, I do not believe it is realistic for the Cornell International Program Tuition to be reduced at this time.

UA R3 (2015-2016): Acknowledged by the President

Dear Matthew,

Thank you for conveying the University Assembly’s Resolution 3, “Adoption of an Inclusive Restroom, Locker Room, and Gender-Specific Facility Usage Policy.” The resolution is a welcome contribution to our ongoing efforts to provide a campus environment that is free of discrimination based on gender identity.

I especially appreciate the thoughtful work of UA member Ulysses Smith, the UA Campus Welfare Committee and Brian Patchcoski, Associate Dean of Students and LGBT Resource Center Director.

SA R33 (2015-2016): Acknowledged by the President

Dear Juliana,

Thank you for sharing SA Resolution 33: Supporting the Establishment of a Veterans Resource Center. I appreciate the Student Assembly’s encouragement to increase on-campus support for veteran students through the creation of a resource center, knowledgeable staff, and a team room for effective recruitment, retention, and transition of veteran students.

SA R31 (2015-2016): Acknowledged by the President

Dear Juliana,

I acknowledge the receipt of Resolution 31: Approving the Spring 2016 Election Rules. Thank you for sharing these revisions with me.

Sincerely,
