Dear Juliana,

Thank you for sharing Student Assembly Resolution 26: Promoting Justice and Friendship in the Housing Lottery.

I appreciate your efforts and support your intentions, and can assure you that the Division of Student and Campus Life is committed to implementing a plan that is as practical and fair to the largest group of students as possible, as soon as it is realistic to do so.

Residential and Event Services has undertaken a preliminary review of the logistical and technical considerations related to implementing your proposal, and have determined that the current housing selection system, which uses a computer system developed by a third-party vendor, would require reconfiguration and development. If the system has the ability to meet the requests identified in this resolution, I understand that it could take several months to design, develop, test, and implement.

Barbara Romano, director of Residential and Event Services, will be in touch with you to discuss how Campus Life, the Student Assembly, and sponsoring students can work together to evaluate the current process and discuss what may be feasible going forward.

Thank you again for your efforts in bringing forth this proposal.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Garrett
