Hi President Pollack,

It is my pleasure to convey to you UA R14: Calling on the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America (TIAA) to divest funds from all fossil fuel holdings and agribusiness practices associated with deforestation and human rights abuses. Recognizing the work the university has done in making the campus a more sustainable place, this resolution outlines the appropriate issues associated with TIAA and then serves as an avenue to support and advocate for the divestment of TIAA funds from all fossil fuel investment/holdings. The UA is both supporting and advocating for an end to TIAA investment in agribusiness companies associated with deforestation and human rights abuses (which have been particularly destructive to indigenous communities). Additionally, the UA is supporting and advocating for the investment of TIAA funds in renewable energyLastly, the UA urges the University to support this and publicize that support for divesting TIAA funds from the fossil fuel industry and its support in investing in renewable energy.

I would like to thank Caroline Levine and the Campus Infrastructure Committee of the UA for their tremendous work and drafting of this resolution. This resolution does not appear to be posted yet on our official site but it was passed unanimously as our Tuesday meeting. I am attaching the document here.

Best,
Logan
